Family movie nights provide a good opportunity to make an impression on all the attendees. If your group would like to build community, attract more attendees, and have some good old-fashioned fun, a movie night may be just the ticket. A trip to the movies is usually high on anyone’s list of activities for a fun night out. Whether you’re showing the latest animated flick from Pixar or an old classic like ‘The Wizard of Oz’, movies appeal to audiences of all ages and are a nice way to bring people together and build support for your organization.
What’s more, family movie nights are easy to organize and run, and when they’re well executed, they can bring tremendous goodwill to your community. The giant inflatable movie screens make showing a movie to a large group a complete breeze. Movie nights can be a great way to showcase your school, company, city organization, etc., whether you invite the residents from the local senior center, families from other schools in the town, general public, or prospective customers.
Start planning six to eight weeks in advance, and prepare for a successful event with these basic steps. Pick a time and place. Many groups schedule their movie nights during winter months, when outdoor activities are not an option. The inflatable movie screens can be setup indoors as long as the venue has tall enough ceilings. Others set up outdoor movie screens and enjoy a night under the stars.’ We’ve even seen them setup by swimming pools for a Dive-In Movie Night!
Get a license. A public movie showing requires a public performance site license. Locally we always recommend Swank Motion Pictures. They are great at walking everyone through the process and making it easy for the organization. License fees vary by release date and Production Company, so be flexible on your movie choice depending on your budget.
Get a Sponsor. Many local businesses love the opportunity to sponsor a movie night in exchange for advertising their business prior to the event and at the event. They love to setup a table or two that night and hand out information about their business. This can be a small advertising expense turned into huge referral gains.
Sell Some Concessions. It’s easy to make and serve popcorn and pre-wrapped candy. Drinks just complete the night for families. Since the movie is free, spending a little on concessions is easy for movie-goers and is still much less expensive than a night at the theater.
Movie Night Packages come complete with the screen, AV Tech, Large Sound System and DVD player for the movie. All you supply, is the movie and excited movie goers. Nothing could be simpler!
